No Power on a Technics Turntable

Problem

The turntable does not power on when pressing the power button.

Cause

  • The AC mains lead is not firmly plugged into the outlet.
  • The control unit connection cable is not properly inserted (if applicable to your turntable model).
  • The turntable’s power cord may be damaged.
  • The turntable is designed to delay responses if powered on and off quickly (SL-1500C only).

Solution

  1. Check the Power Connection
    • Ensure the AC mains lead is firmly plugged into a working power outlet.
    • Unplug the turntable, check for any damage to the power cord, and plug it back into the outlet securely.
  2. Confirm Control Unit Connection (if applicable)
    • For turntables with a separate control unit, verify that the control unit connection cable is securely attached to the main unit.
    • Insert the control unit cable firmly until it clicks.
  3. Restart the Turntable (SL-1500C Only)
    • If the unit was powered on and powered off quickly, it is intentionally designed to delay immediate responses.
    • Wait at least 3 seconds before attempting to restart the turntable.
  4. Test the Power
    • After completing the steps above, press the power button to confirm if the issue is resolved.
