Troubleshooting - Canister vacuum - The brush (agitator) is not spinning.

Possible cause and solutions

Check the following in the order listed.

1. Confirm that the model switch on the handle is set to carpet mode. The agitator only spins when in the carpet mode.
2. Confirm that the hose handle to wand and wand to powermate are tightly connected.
3. The reset button trips when the agitator is put in a bind by some loose article such as a rug fringe. To reset, with the vacuum off, use a ball point pen to press the reset button and hold for 2 seconds. Turn the vacuum on in carpet mode. Check if the brush now spins.
4. With the unit off, check if you can you spin the agitator by hand.
   • If you can this indicates that the belt is slipping or broken, replace the belt. Replacement belts are available through your dealer a Panasonic parts distributors.
   • If you can not this indicates that the agitator is locked. You will need to replace the agitator. Contact a Panasonic parts distributor
