Problem: A humming sound is heard during playback.

Possible Causes and Solutions

1. Nearby AC Main Lead or Fluorescent Light

Cause: An AC main lead (power cord) or fluorescent light is near the unit’s cables, causing interference.

Solution: Keep other appliances and power cords away from the cables of this unit.

2. Magnetic Field Interference

Cause: A strong magnetic field from a TV or other electronic device may adversely affect audio quality.

Solution: Keep the unit away from TVs and other devices that emit strong magnetic fields.

3. Noise from Radio Waves

Cause: Nearby devices emitting powerful radio waves, such as mobile phones during calls, may cause noise through the speakers.

Solution: Move mobile phones and other devices emitting strong radio waves away from the unit.

4. Incorrect Earth Lead Connection

Cause: For models that have an earth lead, improper connection can result in humming sounds.

Solution: Ensure the earth lead is correctly connected.

5. Attenuator Switch Not Set

Cause: For models with an Attenuator switch, it may not be enabled, leading to interference.

Solution: Set the [ATTENUATOR] switch to [ON]. The switch is located on the rear panel.

6. Turntable model SL-1500C only

Cause: Are both PHONO output terminal and external output terminals simultaneously connected to the device?

Solution: Connect one or the other.
